2024 Capital Grants
The Landfall Foundation awarded $100,000 in capital grants to five area non-profits and schools. The worthy recipients were the New Hope Clinic, Cape Fear Group Homes, Ocean Isle Museum, Winter Park Elementary School and Ogden Elementary School. The Foundation’s capital grants will enable these organizations to improve the vital services to the communities they serve.
New Hope Van for clinic that serves uninsured Brunswick County adults in a patient-centered setting providing medical, dental, and pharmacy services. The $30,000 capital grant will help purchase two additional mobile medical units: a minivan for health screenings and a 26 ft mobile unit with exam and treatment rooms.
Cape Fear Group Homes provides services to adults with intellectual or developmental difficulties, as well as, vocational training for individuals with disabilities, enabling them to acquire skills that can lead to long-term employment. A capital grant of $27,000 will be used to paint and upgrade classrooms and furniture in the vocational training space where many of these individuals spend a significant amount of time.
Winter Park Elementary School and Ogden Elementary School PTA were awarded $10,000 each in Landfall Foundation capital grants to upgrade their sound systems in school auditoriums. These rooms are used by students and community groups for school-wide events, extracurricular activities, PTA meetings and small group gatherings.
As such the impact is significant within each community these schools serve.
Ocean Isle Museum operates the Museum of Coastal Carolina in Ocean Isle Beach and the Ingram Planetarium in Sunset Beach. Founded in 1991, the Museum features a live touch tank, saltwater aquariums, interactive exhibits, lectures and family programs.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina was built prior to the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). With the help of a $23,000 capital grant, the museum’s “Elevating Access Project” will provide refitting of restrooms, adding handrails on interior ramps and the installation of an elevator.
